In Taiwan, five towns have grown so much in population that the government issued an order to rename them as "cities." As a result, these areas have become extremely large. Taichung City is one of them. For example, both Wufeng and Wuqi are in Taichung City, but driving from the westernmost part to the easternmost part of Taichung can take 2.5 to 3 hours.

To make things clearer, we usually divide the city into districts, such as Taichung City’s Qingshui District, North District, West District, or Wufeng District, for more precise identification. However, due to differences in how Chinese and English speakers perceive city names, this often confuses foreign visitors.

The hotel you booked is in Wuqi Fishing Harbor, which is in the Qingshui District on the westernmost side of Taichung City. It is about a 45-minute drive from downtown Taichung, so it is not considered part of the central city area.
